Wine tasting
Season: Year-round; best at harvest in September and OctoberSoave and Valpolicella wine tasting
- White Soave from volcanic hills, and Amarone in Valpolicella
- Cellar visits with local producers

Food & drink
The food of the Vicenza area is hearty country cooking: polenta instead of bread, rich sauces, cured meats and cheese from the mountains. The hills around Montecchio Maggiore produce good wines too, and some of Italy’s best-known wine regions are less than an hour away.

Look for a trattoria or osteria with a short handwritten menu. In the countryside, an agriturismo serves dinner made from its own produce. For a special evening, dine in Juliet’s Castle.
